book it in at chester on the proviso that they will ask suzuki about the situation on your behalf ! and tell them tat due to this site and your situation they have got some new buisness too!

Crewe to Chester is a lovely run, and u can walk to the river easy while they doin yer bike!

this is easier for me to say than to do - but write your letters and send your emails etc to MSc etc etc andthen..............let it go !!...things like this can take over your life and make you ill....move on and put it down to experience.

Morris' are good on west st- But they are Honda .!! and wud prob approach the Ar$y Suzi woman for the bits etc anyway !...

the motorbike shop off Edleston road are good too ...forget their name !!
down the side street opp Union street lower down than edleston road school.! Suzuki dealer in Hanley - Stoke is Norman and Birch - the are OK.....or websters in Hanley ...mark there is great ..adn s my parents live in Crewe and me in Stoke if u take yer Bike there and need a lift back to crewe Pm me and I will give u a lift- in the "cage" and then go see my dad cos he lives in Lunt Avenue-
good luck

and..............revenge is a dish best served cold..!!!...........

I disagree as they should take into account the amount of time it takes to return the bike to the state that they received it in, and work accordingly so that the bike is returned as they received it. Have it fixed but throw the book at them legally even if you don't get anything back you will at least have done something and giving people like that bad publicity is a fantastic thing

I dont think that 3 hours is very long to do as you suggest, they have to remove the bodywork, seat and switchgear if they are looking for broken wires. By the time they have done that they have to put it all back together again without doing any fault finding.

Auto electics are the most difficult fault to find on any motor vehicle, it takes a good electrician to go straight to a fault. The only sure fire way is to replace every item until it starts, Im sure you would have lots to say if you got a bill for new coils, regulators, starter motor and ignition circuits and switches.

As I said it took me ages to find the faults on my bike, probably 3 or 4 weeks, think of those labour charges.

I understand what people are saying about customer service, but like Sid said, you dont have any contract with Suzuki, Jaguar or Lotus when you buy a vehicle, as long as it is fit for the purpose it was meant. Well in this case it was, or you wouldnt have taken delivery of it in the first place.

In this case you are just a walk in customer who has asked them to fix an unidentified problem within 3 hours.

Maybe they do need to brush up on their customer handling skills,

If the bike has no warranty, you are able to take it anywhere who can sort it out, whether they repair suzukis or not. An auto electrician will sort it very quickly.

If they werent reasonably confidant they could fix it within the agreed three hours they shouldnt have taken on the job on that basis. Also they should not have returned the bike in a worse condition unless that had been agreed initially.

gerbilion

since it's a K1, I suppose you have checked the known wiring chafing points?

i.e. behind both the riders seat fixing screws (which are too long and hit the harness) and under the pillion seat (inside the cubby) on the left side where the harness goes round the edge of a frame bracket as it heads for the tail light area.

not sure if it's the right diagram but you can download an sv wiring digram here: http://www.svrider.com/tips/svs-wiring.htm might not be perfect and definately won't be as useful as a haynes manual but if you or a friend have any skills with a multimeter you can at least try testing out each wire from connector to connector using this.

I know it's time consuming but there is no feeling like sorting out your own problems - I sorted the 6V system on my Suzuki TS250 trail bike with one of these, it puts a grin on my face every time I take it out cos I did it myself.

i know it's not really very helpfull to you but I'm a maintenance engineer of over 20 years experience and the last thing I would do when tracing a wiring fault is cut into a loom, even if I'd identified a faulty cable I would run a replacement alongside the loom, IMHO that is the action of someone who doesn't really know how to fault find electrical circuits - the suggestion to take the bike to an auto electrician is an excellent one.

I know I'd be seriously p****d off if it was my bike, but I did learn the hard way many years ago that the only person who will do a job to the standard I expect is me.

reading more about your problem with the bike rather than the dealer.

If the engine turns over, that sort of rules out the safety switches like kill switch, kickstand and gear selector switch.

It sounds more like a break in the low tension side of the coils or a feed to them.

I would start there with a piece of test wire
