This thread smacks of the classic jumper on a ledge scenario:
"Don't buy the cruiser - you've still got so much to live for. Things can't be that bad! Just step away from the Harley and no-one gets hurt, we can talk about it. It'll all be OK!"

I'd vote KTM 640 adventure if I was in Spain. But I'd vote CB100N over a cruiser any day. And because I've ridden a very shiny HD I've got an opinion rather than a prejudice (the fact that riding the fat american thing confirmed my prejudice is just random chance)

Which is whats putting me off getting a hack like that for plodding about london

CBF500 idea is currently looking good for me, although I dont have the money.

Maybe in april...

Ha yeah Harleys are lovable aren't they? I am simply looking for a different kind of ride and all that it involves. A nice Sportster with it's thub, thub, thub tick over sound might be just the baby. I will defo be getting a Stage 1 "Performance" kit,(don't laugh!) and slip on pipes but I dont want anything too loud as that is just not pleasant to my ears at all.

I love the KTM's especially as the 640 was to date the only bike I ever got my knee down on when hurtling around a track in the summer. But again another holligan bike and I am after all a changed man!

It's a V-rod. Very nice it is too, once you stop hearing Purple Rain inside your head.

Copy that Richie. However, when the so called "second" bike becomes the "main" bike (as it will if you ride the DL650 as it should) where do you go from there

Couldn't afford it even if it'd fit in the garage

Wow. I was saying to someone about 4 months ago that they should do this.
Amazing.
I sort of want one.
