Absolutely heres a link to the recipe - http://www.ivillage.co.uk/food/exper...673444,00.html
For those that are interested in the topic it strikes me as strange that "Suzuki" have only just come out with this. Has anyone heard of this before? |

My K4 pointy had 28.5K miles and a rigid swinging arm.... (left to right, not up and down)

My money is on poor machining of the swingarm/frame/pivot/spacers. They can't put slack in the bearings themselves or they would deteriorate rapidly.
It just strikes me as odd that its taken 6 years for this to come to light. |

Just checked mine on the abba stand. When I push on the left side of the swingarm there is a very quiet dull popping sound as it moves a little. When I stop pushing, it pops back. But if I push on the right side nothing happens
So there is a tiny bit of play, but not a lot |

Nah! ' grease ' is the Japanese word for ' slack ' so they put plenty in when they make the bikes!

My uninformed opinion is that it sounds like a complete load of s***. A wee bit of controlled flex- not play- in a bike frame is a good thing, since your suspension only works vertically- once leaned over, a lateral flex in the arm or frame can act like a big leafspring suspension. (remember RC51s racing with frame bolts missing, hacksawed slots in the frame, etc- TOO stiff, the racers sabotaged them to get back some flex).
But, rattly swingarms doesn't really sound like handling benefit, it'd be uncontrolled and I can't see any way it wouldn't wear the parts faster, bearings like constant loads. I've never noticed it on the early pointies I've worked on, though to be fair I wasn't looking for it. My curvy certainly has none. As for greasing the bearings... Yeah, do it. I did. But it's a pain in the nuts to do, lots of dismantling, so people don't bother. Strangely, if you buy a replacement swingarm it comes greased up like a scottish dinner, it's only the complete bikes that have no grease. Kwak are the same of course.
