I personally don't think this would have been any different had Hovis not been tragically killed.

I couldn't comment on that because I don't really know what mood SK and Speedplay were at the time of posting and if that mood had anything to do with Hovis.

My posts weren't personally anything to do with Hovis, but then I don't think my posts were particularly moody either, just matter of fact as I saw it and I hope people would read them at face value, rather than interpreting their own version from between the lines.

I did say "Sorry T.C, I think you've posted some really valid points, but...", but T.C still didn't seem to like it as it was me he quoted on his last post before he foxtrot oscar'ed.

I quite happy to take criticism so if anybody thinks my posts were out of order tell me, after all as Embee said it's only opinion not hard fact, so long as people debate in a genuine manner I'm not going to fall out with anyone over it, and I learned my lesson on baiting and trolling in the U Rated thread so if anyone starts that I'll just ignore them.

Wonder what the percentage of posters to members is?

Couldn't have put it better myself - well said MBK!

When I saw the first post I was looking forward to reading the thread as I know TC from another forum and appreciate his wise words.

Previous posts have pointed out that forums are based solely on opinion, and this is very true. It is unfortunate that when one joins a new forum that one can't carry one's stripes through, but such is the way of the internet. That low count number does nothing to bolster one's weight of opinion. But, in this case (and knowing of the OP beforehand) this particular opinion is as close to fact as one will ever likely encounter on a motorcycle forum.

But then, that is my opinion, and my post count is low.... and therefore doesn't count for sh*t

It's not about post count, post count just gets used on internet forums, rightly or wrongly as an indicator. If this site removed post counts I reckon it would still have happened, purely because T.C was a new name and it looked a bit like a spam post.

Lets take it out of the context of an internet forum. If T.C were to walk into a pub and sit down at your table and reel off that narrative, you might sit and listen to him. If he then walked over to a table of strangers who happened to be carrying bike helmets and sat down and launched straight into the same narrative, how quickly would he get told to foxtrot oscar?

Embee's comment about "bad manners to be right too soon" is valid, and it's valid because on this occasion T.C was unacquainted with his audience. The fact it happens to be on an internet forum with a post count, changes the way people behave and react to some extent, but there re certain basic rules of social etiquette that don't change.

I have two accounts on the forum, I used to post under a different name, so I have a higher post count and more little longevity than is shown here.

I can honestly say the first day I started posting as -Ralph- with a post count of one, nothing changed in the way I was received or treated.
