I have done the laser thing (thanks for that Mum!), and it hurts. I don't just mean it is a bit sore, I mean that it is scream the house down, punch the technician and swear like a sailor on shore leave who finds out his girl is actually called Brian!

When I had my lady garden done, I managed six sessions before I decided enough was enough. It cost an absolute fortune and was in effect, fairly useless. The promise is not for complete hair removal, but reduction of hair growth. The pain afterwards meant that I had to sit down with an ice pack in my pants and I have to be careful in the sun due to skin damage by the laser light.

Also, the laser itself is all very technical. They give you this talk about it being careful controlled blah de blah! What it actually is though is this. It is a welding laser that has been switched on and off very very fast, so you get only a tenth of a second or so of the heat! Yes folks, I have had my under carriage welded!

My Step Mum came with me to hold my hand when I had it done. She laughed all the way through it due to my strong language. The poor woman doing it went scarlet and when it was over, I was traumatised! Shame I ran out of money, I would have lots more, not sure how they get it up your crack though!

Oh it really does, the smell is horrible and it hangs about for a good couple of hours after treatment!

The flash burns on the skin dry out and it requires lots of Aloe gel for a few days. Nothing like rubbing aloe into your nether regions!

I'm taking my IPL to the Wales trip with the boys. There will be forfeits involving the stun gun if they don't behave.

I must be doing it wrong, it only stings a tiny bit, and no problems with sore skin afterwards.

I had the spot laser at the Nuffield, handled by a rather lovely, if somewhat innocent Nurse. I had to sign a disclaimer to have it turned up full to burn out the deep rooted stuff in my skin, which is why it hurt so much.

While chatting to a scientist friend a few years ago, she told me of a woman who had a horrible accident with concentrated nitric acid. Apparently the good side of it was that where it splashed, hair never grew again! Not sure I want to go rubbing that into my lady garden though!

Immac bikini line stuff...... Allergic reaction.....never again.....boy was that embarrassing, especially on a romantic trip to nodnol.

Think I'd prefer the acid test myself!
