Yeah a rare run sounds good. Although it'd be interesting to see how the stock levels work for each other.

Because the stocks are rare, the available stock is low, but I think its just low for each Commander, to try and even the playing field perhaps.

So I'd hope we'd both be able to buy the same amount each and not have to split the available goods. Guess we won't know till its tried.

Do you mean a special evading technique? I am ok at the mini-game thing but I think you may mean a tactic of dropping out of supercruise in an emergency and jumping off again? I haven't actually done that yet tho.

Whats your current jump distance? Mines 24ly unladen and 16ly laden which really helps with rare trading.

15ly laden, 18ish unladen I think...if we use economical routing I think it won't be so different....more scanning available

Alternatively we meet up, me in my Viper and go hunting together

My Viper jumps about 12ly though....

OK I don't mind either.

I'm just about to buy a new ship, what you reckon the cobra or viper? I have 850k credits

I think I'd want something that can still travel far for the rare runs but can also handle itself in a fight.

I'm heading to Leesti - George Lucas station to kit out a viper.

Then the fun begins!

I figure the hauler is capable of being my cash cow with these rare runs.

I was gonna say get a cobra if you want just one good ship for now, you could then sell the hauler to fund nice modules...you could still do this a little later after having some fun in the Viper though....just make sure with any ship you are going to sell/trade in that you sell off/downgrade all the modules first before hand...if you sell with all the bits they return 90% instead of 100%!

I went Sidewinder -> Eagle -> Hauler -> Cobra -> Cobra + Type 6 -> Asp -> Asp + Viper
I will likely go from here with Asp + Viper -> Asp with A rated -> Asp + Type 7 -> Python

I spent 3 mil on my Viper btw! All A rated modules...you may find switching to solely a cobra may be the better option for now though so you have a good fighter and more cargo space than a hauler too sof or the long rare runs you have some decent protection for yourself....or keep the viper and upgrade the hauler to a type 6 when you can, that'll give you over 100T cargo space then but still leaves you quite vulnerable!!

Well I went and bought a viper. Before I read this, but still I hear the viper is the best fighter so that was my direction.

Added some cheaper additions so I will be no where near as deadly as you!

Took out my first ship in solo mode, just a wee sidewinder but its a start.
Gonna switch to open for giggles now.

Just make sure you have the insurance covered lol!

I love my Viper, prefer it to the cobra for combat because of the turn rate and acceleration. The shields are better too but once gone the hull doesn't hold out too long!

I do miss my Cobra though...just need another 20mil for the Asp to bring it upto spec!

For any Eliters....a beta backer player and twitch streamer is likely to be organising an group exploration in a few weeks, a long distance one to a nebula somewhere...he's in a kitted out Python so we have good protection...I'd say the minimum spec ship for this ought to be a Cobra MK III with decent FSD but I'll find out more in a week or so. Let me know if you're interested in joining the journey and I'll see what I can sort out!

Could be interested depending on the general time it might be happening, i.e. evening / weekend.

Also any idea roughly how long it will take to complete the journey?

Had a day off it today but will be back on tomorrow eve.

He thinks it'll be more than could fit in the normal evening so likely weekend, either most of one day or evening through til early hours

I did just over an hour tonight, raked in another 2mil or so....only another 16mil to go....in no rush though
