And from a three-space perspective there are several possibilities:

1) The universe is expanding at the speed of light
2) Photons are dropping off the 'edge' of our three-space universe
3) Photons are being translated in some way which contains them within a bounded three-space universe

Choose one.

( Who said multiple choice questions have to be easy? )

That isn't an answer, to say something is finite!! A balloon expands into the space surrounding it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could answer a mathematically question to the highest possible number to finite +1 but it doesn't solve it. The question stands, what is outside the universe??? I

There isnt anything outside the universe, there is no outside, thats the point of the world universe.

If there was something outside it it would by default be part of the universe, because thats what the word means.

You're missing an important word (or two, unbounded is also important, but surface more so) the balloon itself expands into the space surrounding it but the surface of it does not, the surface of it simply expands in two dimensions but theres nothing else in those dimensions for it to expand into.

Something I've always wanted to know:

That glue strip on post-it notes. If it's so bad at sticking to things , how come its is realy well stuck to the paper?

At the end of the day it's all theories. No one can actually know for sure. Hence the title of the post. So does it end? Is there an edge to the universe? Remember the world was flat years ago and everything revolved around our planet. Even now Einsteins theories are being questioned. I reckon all the lost mail is beyond the universe!!

It's been a long while since anyone truly believed the world was flat.

Even during columbuses time they didn't really believe that.

And no, there's no edge according to theory.

Einsteins theories are being adapted, they'll never be thrown away same as newtons theories weren't Completely replaced by einsteins even though really they were.
