Re: Spark Plug Change ??
Amongst other things, I changed my plugs today - put in iridium ones. I used the block of wood trick to hold the rad off. Dunno why really - it was running fine.. I think must have caught the biker 'throw money away' lurgi.. lol!
The plug caps have a set of holes in them. What's that for. And does it let the road spray in? I put some of that silicon gloop on the front cap but with seeing the holes I'm not sure if it will work. Messy stuff though.. |

Re: Spark Plug Change ??
Check this thread out, a search would have found it easily enough.
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=109816 Check out the last few points, as these aren't covered in the manual or mentioned by many on the forum. I'm trying mine tonight, good luck! |

The rear one is easy enough, but make sure you haven,t just filled up with petrol. Left mine proped up while i went to get some banjo seals, came back to petrol leaking from the filler cap,and bubbled paint work around the top of the tank. Will be an expensive plug change. Mike |

Re: Spark Plug Change ??
Got mine in on the weekend- avoided above petrol issue (tank 1/2 full) and also, unlike last year, managed to spill very little oil when changing that and the filter.
Starting is still a little iffy on my bike- maybe choke plungers need cleaning and carbs balanced? But she is definitely running smoother now. Whether that's due to the iridium plugs or just the plugs/oil/filter being new, I'm not yet sure. |

I've never known petrol to do that to paintwork before! That said, you'll never do it again! I recently had to re-drain my bike and put on another new oil filter as I put car oil in her. You live and learn I guess! |

Re: Spark Plug Change ?
Ok so I'm planning on changing my plugs. Can someone confirm these steps from which I've picked up above
Rear cylinder..remove seat, lift up petrol tank and change plug from there. Front cylinder..losses radiator screws, tilt forwards to gain access (and horn if necessary) and remove plug from there. Looks straight forward but just a little awkward, how long are you talking to carry out the change anyone? |

Re: Spark Plug Change?
This thread has reminded me that when I change mine next I need a plug spanner. My bike didn't come with a Suzuki tool kit. What's the best plug spanner to get for the job?
