Default Free audio editing software?

Id like to be able to crop certain parts of songs into shorter MP3's (more suitable for ringtones etc.)
Does anyone know of any audio editing software that is free and can crop parts of songs?

Thanks.

Try Audacity its open source, free and works well.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I use it under Windows for chopping up small sections of audio. You need to download a free plugin to produce MP3s - the instructions are on the site.

Right, audacity works brilliantly. Easy to use, does what it says on the tin. Thanks Ratchet! Time to make some ringtones.
