naked winter protection - screen for naked bikes?
Do any of u guys know where to get a decent size screen for naked sv650 03?
Ideally something tall with bits on either side to deflect wind and rain away from hands. I've seen a few on ebay but they all seem tiny and more for looks than usefulness. |

Re: naked winter protection
I've not seen much for naked bikes between the small headlight fairings and a big full job like an old polaris or rickman
something like this or possibly this would offer the weather protection you need Cheers Mark.

Re: naked winter protection
Have a look at screens designed for cruisers. That would have the size and shape you're after if you can make one fit.

Re: naked winter protection
those airblade screens depend on how short you are.
or how tall your torso is really. but handguards are a good suggestion, esp with heated grips, proper toasty |

Re: naked winter protection
Have Givi ? 601, I think ? big screen which I used for a winter.
Only problem was I cruised at about 20 mph faster without the wind blast so the only thing in danger was my licence. Plastic milk bottles suitably fettled will protect your hands. Am away for a couple of weeks, but if interested, screen's for sale.

Re: naked winter protection
Givi screens are excellent - when my wife had a CB500, that had a Givi screen, it was brilliant. Didn't rattle, didn't affect handling at any speed that CB was capable of and gave excellent wind protection even for a tall lanky sod like me!
The screen made that CB a great small bike for big distances. It didn't protect hands though, I'd agree with the guards/muffs/heated grips suggestions for them... |

Re: naked winter protection - screen for naked bikes?
Hand guards from a DL650 go straight on and are great. I go through the winter with summer gloves, heated grips and guards.
I've got a couple of mini fairings but the guards are much more effective. If you go here (which is an appallingly designed website) Click naked then Universal. I have the top two in the list. The second is far more effective than the first but neither anywhere near as good as the DL650 guards. Make sure you get the DL650, not the DL1000 as the DL1000s don't come with fixings. Tried muffs but the wind force applied the clutch over 50mph which was not ideal.

Re: naked winter protection - screen for naked bikes?
+1. Although you may find that brake/clutch lever need to be rotated down a little (the guards attach to the lever pivots) otherwise wind whistles round the bottom of the guard and across finger tips. But they certainly helped me through last winter.
Have Givi screen for winter use also, but never seem to get it adjusted right, either wind blast straight into upper chest/neck or LOADs of turbulence round head. A bigger screen would probably solve that, but I think it would look a little odd. |

I tested a medium screen on mine at various angles, was useless, was less turbulent with nothing on, would need to huge screen be beneficial.
