Default SV1000 CCC cans <98db?

Hi,

First trackday coming up. It'll be at Darley Moor where they have a 98db noise limit. Does anyone know if an SV1000 with a pair of CCC steel cans with baffles in will be likely to pass or should I refit the horrible originals to be on the safe side?

Cheers,
Mark

## UPDATE 18/7 ##
Tested by the official tester at 88-89 DB-A. This would suggest anyone else with a CCC can with the baffles in should be OK too.

My road legal BOS after-market cans come under easily despite sounding a bit louder and better than stock.

If you live anywhere near a track ask if you can pop in and get sound tested, they are usually pretty helpful.

I have a proper sound level meter for this and its fairly close to the official test meter they use at Oulton. The sound gets tested at a specific rev number, check what it is for your bike. Its based on the bore, stroke and number of cylinders, I'll see if I can find the criteria.

Edit....I've checked, for a 2 cylinder bike over 750cc it gets tested at 5000rpm. The ACU regs are normally followed for noise testing at trackdays but it depends totally on the track/organisers. For info, the test description from the ACU regs states this;

noise test will be conducted with the microphone placed at 50 cm from the exhaust pipe at
an angle of 45° measured from the centre-line of the exhaust end and at the height of the
exhaust pipe, but at least 20 cm above the ground. If this is not possible, the measurement can
be taken at 45° upwards

They sound loud but its often the little 2 stroke bikes with a raspy sound that get the sound meters excited.

Just called CCC and they say they are 98db when built but V-twins tend to knock hell out of the packing so may be a bit louder now. Could get them repacked but will be cutting it fine.

Maplin have a DB tester for £20. Recon I'll be popping over to get one lunchtime. Unfortuantely I think I live at the point in UK furthest from any active race track!

Not looking good

According to my £20 maplin DB meter (DB-C, not DB-A if it makes any real difference) I'm putting out over 100DB at tickover and c106 at revs.

Dug out the original cans, stuck them on and even they go over 98db as soon as you pick the revs up.

Either
a) DB meter is no good
b) CCC cans are too loud and originals have been battered by a twin pulsing through
c) all of the above.

Looks like my track day may end before it begins. Don't really want to do best part of 200 miles to be told to sod off home!
