Hi,

Got a bit more done yesterday but my phone died so didn't manage to get photos.

Soldered up my new throttle cable and fitted it.

Made a battery box out of some ally bits and pieces I had, just bonded and riveted together so cost zero pounds which saves me the 40 odd quid I'd need if I were to buy one.

Wanted to get the motor turning over and up to temperature so Drained what remaining oil there was in the engine and changed the oil filter for a lock-wirable k&n.
I filled it up with water & checked for leaks but luckily everything was fine.

As the motor in this is actually from a pointy & I won't be running the oil cooler I had to do a couple of things to block it off.
Behind the oil filter there's a small jet which diverts the oil around the cooler. You can remove this with a 6mm Allen key.
Also, as there were two big holes where the oil cooler pipes went so needed to get some plugs to block these off. For reference incase any of you guys need to do this, the thread size you need is m14x1.5, luckily this is Quite a common size of car sump plug, halfords even sell them (part no hsp605) for the princely sum of 2.50 each and it comes with a copper washer.

After it was full of fluids, put the old tank on and fired it up and let it get warm. No leaks so that's a bonus, just need to top the oil up as the oil filters sucked a bit up.

Not gonna be able to get back in the garage till next week now but I'lll remember to charge my phone and take some photos.

Chris

Good stuff. Just a quicky, why not use the oil cooler? Minitwin rules or preference?

Well seeing as the curvy doesn't have one I don't see any need for it really. Just more weight to carry, stuff to leak and to break when it gets thrown up the road.

How's your sv?

Fairy nuff.

My SV is sulking in the shed! But first trackday on March 1st and hoping to get a race in April.

Awaiting final bits and bobs, has a new rear subframe to go on after spraying. Then I may install new linear springs to bin the progressives, along with debrix emulators if they arrive in time.

Still on the ZX10 item. Not ideal but does the job for now.
