I'm sure someone will be along to add something smutty to the title, but I can't think of anything right now.
Anyway. I have just acquired one of these new fangled oxford hot grip controllers. Whereas the old ones had handy loops allowing it to be cable tied to just about anything the new ones have a flat bottom but you can get a mounting plate which fits to the mirror bosses on a naked. However if you use this mounting point the bracket fouls the mirror stem so will have to be bent vertically which is bound to look a right mess. I was thinking of mounting it on the top fixing bolt of the coolant reservoir (naked pointy thou) so it's tucked out of sight in the frame, out of the weather but it would mean getting off the bike to turn on/off or set the temp. I used to have it more or less the same place on my old curvy but that one had the nice knob to set the temp so you could easily turn on/off while riding. These fiddly little buttons on the new ones are likely to make it a bit difficult. Has anyone fitted one of these new style ones with the new bracket in a way that you can get to it but it does not look a right mess? Cheers, Mark

I'll ask my ex to send me a pic of hers cos it looks ok where she fitted it. If I remember right she bent the bracket slightly to make it look good.

Thanks for the responses, however it needs to be a naked bike. There is a serious lack of flat surfaces on the naked to fix such stuff.
I suppose if you're 'ard enough to ride with no fairing you're 'ard enough to ride with cold hands.

Hows this???
![]() Got a piece of 2cm wide steel, bent it in a vice with a hammer, put a hole in it, welded the original plate to the steel bar stuck the controler to the plate screwed it into the bolt on the left as per pic bit of padding on the right side (the green thing you see!) and bobs your uncle ![]()

Out of interest, do these new ones solve the old problem of the RHSone being vastly hotter than the left. I know why it occurs, but it just seemed like shoddy design they didn't make the RHS one heat up less to offset this effect (or you know, put the heating elements nearer the 'surface' of the grip in the LHS one)
