Do you have to have a spring compressor to change the spring on the rear shock or can it be done by other means like ratchet straps etc? Going ot be changing mine soon (on another bike) and don't fancy paying out for a tool I'm only going to be using once and I would quite like to do the whole job myself!

What bike is it Andy?
On the OE shocks with step-less adjustment, you should be able to just unwind the preload adjusters all the way out, lift springs and slip out the bottom spring seat. The spring can now be removed. There amy or may not be may a circlip you have to remove before the seat can be taken out. Ben |

It's on the ZX6R. I don't think you can wind out the preload adjusters on this one (or so they say on mcnninjas) but I think I remember someone on here saying you can use ratchet tie-down straps to compress the spring and do it that way???
