Default 4000 Mile service, which one?

My SV now needs a 4000 mile service, from these which of them are good and what is a good place? Can anyone recomaned anywhere else?

Southern Cross £150-160
Infinity £135
Gemomoto £138
Bike Technique £60

I did take my 125 to Bike Technique and they were ace at fixing it, so I may go there! Let me know your thoughts as its being doing done asap.

Because they probably only do the oil. There no way of telling if all the others actually do what they should be doing though for the money.

What will each of them do for this money? If they drop the old oil out and put new stuff in then you're paying them for 5 minutes of work and 10 minutes of drinking tea. If it's a little more involved than that, you're paying an experianced mechanic to check your bike over and make sure it's ok. This is the bit people often miss when they tell you about "stealerships" taking your cash. A good mechanic will check the bike over properly and advise you of anything that might need doing, as well as making sure everything is working smoothly.

Hopefully someone will know the specific garages you're talking about.

Its the SV's first 4000 mile service, so oil and filter is needed and everything else needs to checking to make sure my bike is safe and nothing needs replacing.

The last one is 2 guys and a garage, none of that main dealer waiting area ect. But I can sit with my book and watch them and talk with them about the bike to make sure all is well.

This is a good point. My GSXR was serviced last week the mechanic told me my Brake pads are low and only have about 1000 miles of life left in them and that my clutch cable is going to need replacing before not long as well.

If I had done the oil change etc myself I wouldnt have noticed this as I dont really know what I'm doing and its one of the reasons I take my bike to be serviced at a garage who do know.

Just dont get me started as to why he also felt the need to put chainwax on my chain when I have a scotoiler fitted to it...

In the dim and distance past, I used to get my bike serviced in a place where they had the following menu on the wall -

Servicing - £40 per hour

If you wait, £50 per hour

If you watch, £60 per hour

If you've worked on it yourself, £70 per hour

If you offer to help out, £80 per hour

Needless to say I took the loan bike and scooted away asap

You could try Essential Rubber, they're good honest guys
