Default Help snapped crankshaft

Just had my bike looked at by someone that knows what they are doing and the news isn't very good. Snapped crankshaft. So I need new crankshaft, camchain, big end bearings etc. So I was wondering if anyone out there has a crankshaft for sale. The bike is a 2003 pointy but I was wondering if a crank off a curvy would fit as these seem to go cheaper on ebay(complete engine). Have found a pointy engine on ebay for 150 quid but the person selling hasn't heard it running as it was out of a crashed bike. Any info on other things that will probably need replacing would be greatfully recieved.

if your cam chain is broken take look at valves.most like they hit piston.
look for whole motor and bolt it in,cheapest way to fix.

No luckily the cam chain has't snapped it's just been chewed up on the outer edge so the valves should hopefully be ok.

I'd be very tempted to replace the cases and bottom end as a set, I believe the bearings are selected according to the crank.

I'd get the motor out of the crashed one tbh, you can probably get most of that back by breaking it if it's crank's gone too.

I have a complete K3 engine minus the front cylinder head. It is a K3.
I was running when I first got it about a year ago so I know it does run. Make me a sensible offer and its yours.

The remains of the engine have a fairly good scrap value by the way- if the cams are undamaged, they're sellable either to minitwin racers or the intake cams are in demand for owners of the older SV... Clutches, camchain tensioners, side casings etc can all get reasonable money. I've bought a couple of blown up engines, taken the bits I want and then sold the rest off and made money Still not got round to taking the remains to a scrap dealer either.

Sorry about your engine though, it does suck but Zadar's spot on, when you price up the parts you'll see it's just not practical to rebuild it.

Yeah I have noticed on here that a cam swap is quite a common mod for curvy's so I have already considered the fact that I could probably get some money back from selling some of the parts I don't need if I go down the route of getting another engine. Only prob with the crashed engine is the fact that it's in the Isle of White by the look of things so he wants 60 notes for p&p (which is a bit anoying as I'm only about 40miles from there but across the water so can't really collect for much less). Sideshow#36 you have mentioned this to me a couple of weeks ago and I'm seriously tempted but have no idea how much a sensible offer is for an engine minus front cylinder head. I presume it is also missing the camchain (sorry if I am being thick but I'm under the presumption that they have 1 cam chain per cylinder although if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will put me straight lol). Any chance of a pm to let me know what you want for it.

No the engine still has the cam chain. All you would need to do is bolt on your old front cylinder head, time the chain and cams and you are away. You have PM
