Hello,
It's been a while.... I keep having this issue. 2nd gear keeps popping out into neutral. This mainly happens if i give it some. But sometimes during normal riding. I think this happened to me a couple of time on my old SV. But this one is a 2006 with 4k miles. Any ideas? Thanks G |

As in the linkage?
This is already well lubed and moves freely. |

I hope not mate but worse case scenario is selector forks bent/work or even the dogs on the gear pinions could be worn.
I speak from experience : (

mine will do it if you accelerate hard in first and then second, it'll also do it if you're a bit soft with the shift, 1st --> 2nd seems to require a solid shove to ket it 100% engaged

The SV engine is know for a slippy second gear, sometimes you need to really ensure that you fully select the gear. I have a habit of hold my toe to the selector to ensure I get the selection, so don't panic just yet.
The other thing it could be is that your worm drive or clutch cable need a clean and a lube so when you select the gear its is in fact not selecting correctly.. If you've been riding in this bad weather then dirt can seriously effect a clean operation, if you have a hunt about the are a few threads with photos and details of what you need to do. |

I would hope not mate. Like I said, worst case scenario.
But would listen to others first, I have never had an SV (que questions about why I'm on here then.. I have SV envy....)

K3 pointy here...
I get this aswell - only when im nailing it. It just pops out of second, even when its been shifted without the clutch, but its been minced into engagement. If its not put into gear a little more forcfully you run the risk of the revs shooting up and freaking you out. |
