hi all
i have a problem with my sv650 K5 it has only done 5000 miles and i keep on losing 1st, neutral and on the odd occation 2nd. the clutch is not slipping, it feels like when you try to put it into 1st or neutral it goes all spongy. i really dont no what to do. ive checked the oil and clutch cable. has any1 had this problem and how do you sort it. thanks Charli |

You could also check chain tension. I believe that would give some issues. Im sure YC will be along soon with his guru ways.

just under 5000 miles
when i try to grt into 1st or neutral it feels soft, spounge and squigy thats the only way to explain it. it just wont go in |

Well change oil then, that won't help.
Also check external shift mechanism is all nice and free moving (shifter and linkage), clean the crap off from round the shift rod.

I'd put money on this being the problem. The selector can't reset and thus pressing the lever is only moving the return spring.
