Hard to say, if the price is right then I would have his arm off for a black 750.
However, if your not confident on an sv650 you may not enjoy a gsxr750.

Those gixxers are seriously torquey, thats what i want next! I would go for it and just be a little careful while you adjust to the extra power. Sounds nice tho

what about the SV aren't you confident in?
if it's the power then a GSXR is obviously going to be bad for instlling confidence if it's the suspension the GSXR could well provide a more condifence inspiring ride

You said it was a mate of a mate... treat it like a stranger you're buying from.
By all means go look at the bike, if you think it's worth the money that's what it boils down to. Hand over the cash/deposit, go for a test ride to compare. If you like it, buy it! |

Reason I want a Gixer is the size, I still feel the SV is a tad too big for me. Been on for half an hour today and loved every minute of it but I wished she was a tad smaller so I could touch the floor. I find myself sliding down the seat away from the tank into my calved out seat when I stop and then snuggle back to my tank when I ride.
That is my main factor with the SV. I know you can lower etc etc but I have not gone down that route. Power is not an issue, not scared of that at all, ask Kwak LOL I am careful rider since my off and tend to enjoy the slower ride to be honest, or the more legal speed limit ride. Dunno Gixers just do it for me like if James Toseland came along Mr Woozle would be traded in LOL The black gixer is £4200 but my mate thinks he can get it me for £4000 ![]() I have asked him to set up a viewing. This will be instead of the new car I need LOL

Riding any motorcycle is all about your state of mind and confidence. As for the 750, only you'll know what you want to do. GSXR will be better in every respect than your SV, especially in the suspension and brakes department, but its also got roughly twice the BHP at the crank, somewhere in the 145ish bhp region. Thats a big power step, its a massive power step for a rider that not very confident as IIRC you say you have been in the past. But if you keep the revs down you'll probably find the GSXR easier to ride though, but beware once you get passed 7000rpm it changes in character, theres a power increase thats quite noticeable and after 10000rpm theres another step in power. Its very easy to go very fast, as I found out. 1st, 2nd, 3rd then into fourth look down I was down 145mph and I hadnt hit the rev limiter in any gear, although I wasnt far off the limiter when I clicked into 4th though. So you need to have your wits about you and ease yourself into riding it gently if you do get it. My only thoughts would be, if your not confident on the SV you may well find the GSXR intimidating and that may well knock your confidence further. I'm not saying by any means you cant or arent capable of riding it, its just you might find at the place you are in your biking career its not the right bike for you at the moment. Go and have a look at it, take kwak zzr with you have a sit on it and see what it feels like, or go to a dealer and try and get a test ride on a 600 or a 750 and see what that feels like ( if you havent already ) In short, the only way you're going to find out if you like it and you get on with it, is to buy it and ride it, if you dont like it you can always sell it again. I love my K5-750 to bits, but it did take me a while to get used to riding it, and the first time I opened the throttle hard once I'd run it in properly I sh*te my pants I just wasnt ready for the speed which it went off the road at, but it was hell of a buzz and it stll is now and I've had it nearly three years.
