Pesky Warning Stickers

Hi

I accidently spilt fuel over the tank the other day. It has reacted to the gum off the warning sticker and left a black sticky residue on the tank.

I tried to wipe it off with the paper towels but this made the mark worse and now I have a dirty great mark on the tank. Does anyone know the best way to remove the mark and the sticker without causing any damage to the paint.

Its really annoying and when am sat on the bike thats all i stare at lol

Is it just dirty gummy sticker residue? Have you tried using petrol on a rag (or brake cleaner or wd40 or meths etc.) to get the remainder off?

I got my warning stickers off by rubbing them gently with a petrol soaked rag, it worked on the glue residue as well.

i burned mine off

or was it as fizz did, with a little petrol on a clean cloth which didnt scratch or remove the laquer...

is this idle banter...? im lost...

I just got my SV and there are so many stickers, has anyone read them!

If I use a petrol soaked rag will that harm my white stripe as I hate them they make the bike look messy.

I have always just used boiling water out the kettle for the stickers even on the plastics. Also good for getting the old black sticky bits off ,where your old wheel weights were.

If your white stripes are clear laquered on top (as in you can't pick at it with your nail) , petrol/water will not harm. If they are just stuck on I would be really careful.
