Exclamation need help, sv no starting!

next week's trackday is coming and my SV is not starting!

with Sid's telephone help line we have traced it down to a blown starter relay 30A fuse. so I guess a shorting wire somewhere...

my local garage can't see her until next wednesday, so i'll be getting my hands dirty and try to fix the problem this weekend.

now, is anyone here handy with elertics and got time to spare today or sunday to guide me. tea & cake will be provide

I live near highbury & Islington tube station

Mucho thanks,

lucas

I'm terrible with electrics mate but have a mutimeter and kinda remember how to use it after Squids breif lessons on it.
I'm happy to help if i can but seriiously know nothing about electrics except they make me go "ouch" and "ffs" from time to time when they sting me with their invisible stingers.

Did much the same with the 404 last week, ended up changing all the mulit-plugs, but working systematically got me the results I needed, electrics can be a long job but handled right you can always find the answer.

Cheers Mark.

can a dodgy mulit-plug / block connector cause 'random' fuse popping?

Out of interest Lucas does that fuse just feed the starter?

Did the bike get soaked by the firebrigade?

It is the 30A main fuse at the starter relay that blows at very random intervals.

don't think she got soaked as she was covered and away from the fire.

She will start up, run fine, do a few miles, then the fuse popped, put another fuse in, starts up ok, runs fine, waiting at traffic light, fuse pops. On my way to Sid, 3 miles, I used 3 fuses (its like riding with tokens )

after trying to fix it, i took it for another test run around the block, it popped after 2 miles. got back and fiddled with wiring near the reg, 5 miles test run, seems ok, went home, still ok. but there are no visual damage to any wiring nor any exposed wiring that can be earthed accidentally
