Default Ducati MultiStrada 1200

I gotta say, I'm not a fan of italian looks, but this bike REALLY ticks all the boxes in terms of what I'd be looking for in a bike. And it looks good after the nose job (don't set me on fire).. The price they're sticking to it is definitely not a low one, but, if it does what they say it does, then I gotta say, it sounds really good..

Looking at the spec sheet it's a really great engine coupled with a great frame and all for a low weight. Plus, it's a twin with loads of torque everywhere, so the only downside would be that they might be trying too hard to achieve too many things at once, which means it likely they'll fail all of them.. I mean, it's clearly not going to go offroad, but if the all rounder aspect is properly taken care of (I mean commuting, touring and sport), then it would be such a great bike! Then again, it might fail every single one..

Oh, and here's the spec sheet (courtesy of Ducati):

(they still have on their site the old pictures, but according to asphaltburner, the bike gets a nose job, which actually fits well)

I have to say the old Multi was a minger but this new one looks real nice. That said I'd still have the Hypermotard.

I think I prefer the BMW or KTM look myself. More purposeful looking whereas this looks like something you wouldnt want to get dirty.

I really like that, unlike many jap bikes, this one does not scream for a can change asap.. It seems to me that these days most of the manufacturers have agreements with akra or leo vince by which they (the manufacturers) would produce the most ugly looking exhaust that would still sell the bike, and akra or leo vince would produce the ones that the factory should have put on in the first place

+1 on the hypermotard, the new one looks great and has an amazing spec sheet.

It just amazes me that the thought processes at Ducati are so "mental".

Its

Did we make a gorgeous bike in the monster? yes. Did we sell shedloads? yes.

Did we make a gorgeous bike in the 916? yes. Did we sell shedloads? yes.

See that hideous muultistrada/1098/any Terreblanche designed pig on wheels? did we sell shedloads? no? Wonder why?

Its more important for Ducati's to look gorgeous than any other bike manufacturer. Indeed, make a pretty BMW and tall men in white helmets and belstaffs would choke on their beards and stop buying them tomorrow.

I can't understnad why its taken Ducati so long to work out that minging looking bikes dont sell. Its like theyre run by idiots!

A Duke owners list of desirables has reliability lower down than handling and looks.
