Penetrating oil (not wd40 before somebody suggests it) thin nose lock pliers and plenty of patience

If you do a search on here you will find several threads on this. Most of them end up with the calipers needing splitting and rebuilding.

The suggestions of timwilky and fastdruid up there are good to follow...my dad used the same methods to get out my retaining pins. They will come free eventually, it took my dad a couple of hours of heating and wiggling and WD40'ing and wiggling and heating but they did come out.
Remember to use some anti-seize stuff like copper slip before reasembly |

Good afternoon all.
If all else fails, drill a 3mm hole in the back of the caliper, & punch the pins out. Make sure you get the hole over the end of the pin, or you'll be buying a new caliper. It pays to sand/file or grind a slight taper on the tip of the pin, before putting upon re-assembly, & as Alpinewotsit said, use a good copperslip when installing them. Cheers. |
