Hi
Not very clever, particularly where suspension is concerned so bear with me. But I've gt a GSXR (SRAD) front end on my bike, put all the settings to standard and luckypants kindly measured the sag which was correct. So I put a cable tie on the leg to indicate how much travel I was using and it was going all the way to the bottom. Whacked the preload right in and it was the same. Pretty sure the forks had fresh oil in when they were sold to me but is it likely they require thicker/harder oil? Or are they just ****ed? Cheers in advance....

F= k.x Newton says you need harder springs. compression of the fork (x) is too high, so you need to either increase spring constant (k) or reduce pie intake (F)

look on the bright side, it could just be your razor sharp braking...
also, there may be other ways to fix this- maybe changing spacers will bring the preload adjustment into its useful range. im sure one of the proper suspension blokes will be along in a minute to tell me i'm wrong, and bake you a pie maybe ![]() Last edited by mjc; 16-05-10 at 03:16 PM. |

hah! nah that wasnt a dig at your anchors. just saying it'll be on the brakes where your using most travel, so if you brake hard you'll probably need a stiffer front.

And not to forget that you were fiddling the adjusters and then going down roads like that northern coast road on the island, which is far bumpier than most you'd get on this side of the boat.

Might pay you have them serviced by a suspension specialist

The only value you will get from a cable tie on the leg is if you ride without using the brakes, it can only tell you of the max travel used under any given circumstance - when you brake it all gets used, telling you nothing.
