Happily going about my business online and all of a sudden I get something appear on my Taskbar looking very much like "Windows Defender" . It says I have a Blaster Worm infecting everything that seems to load . I know that it isn`t the case as I run BT netprotect Plus and a Blaster Worm is old hat . It would have mentioned something . So from that I take the fact that it is Bullsh1t . It wants me to "Authorise" the product but there are no names anywhere to say who has made this software or where it is from (alarm Bells round 2) . I hit Ctrl Alt Del as usual and it won`t run the task manager and says that`s infected too *cough*BoL Lox*cough* and when I try to launch Firefox it says that`s gone down the tubes as well ... yeah right .
So a "Safe Mode" boot is required and I download a Free Malware program called Malwarebyte`s Anti Malware , install and update and it removes it almost instantly , I reboot and allow windows to load it from the startup and it is removed . And what is the only thing different I have done from the norm this year ? I did a search for pictures of a certain Al-Qaeda leaders death to see if there was any visual proof leaked online and something new has sneaked in so I think the latest cracker/hacker thing is to ride the crest of this new wave . What has worried me is that this is so new that it has sneaked past my Anti-Virus and Firewall , it was easily removed but was not detected immediately , I`ve sent a quarantined file to most of the Anti-virus people so hopefully an update will apear soon for most programs . Pain in the ar5e for an hour though . So a little bit of a heads up for those less savvy with the workings of crap like this ![]() Last edited by xXBADGERXx; 03-05-11 at 11:03 PM. |
