Default Pointy LED Relay

I'm wondering if anyone has one these before spending £ on a new one?

I've converted to LED's all round and the resistors I purchased slow the flash rate, but it's still a bit quick.

Cheers

EDIT: I am considering the Motrax Flash It universal. Those in the know - when wiring the relay which wires do I use from the existing relay? (SK6). I imagine two wires are routed to the Motrax relay, rather than replacing the entire unit on the rear tray.

If you measure the resistance of the ones you have, pop down to Maplin and buy a resistor of a lower Ohms. they are only a few pence so you can buy a few to try until you get the best result.

Just roughly worked it out, 2 x 20watt bulbs in parallel equate to approximately 4.9ohms so ignoring the negligible LEDs then 5 ohms or thereabouts should be right. They will need about 5 amp rating (about 50watt would be ok) or higher to be safe. would be Interested to hear what resistance the ones you bought are. Dave.

Just done a trawl of ebay, the resistors they sell range widely, 20, 30 or 6 ohms???

A mate PM'd me and said THIS unit does the trick and is a direct replacment for the std relay.

It's a bit pricey, but I'll probably go that way and remove the resistors. Ta.

That's similar to the one I fitted too. Yep, a bit pricey but hassle free connecting and no chopping into wiring. Easy peasy to revert back too.

take a look here mate!
i found this really usefull!

the relay also iliminates the need for the load resistors!

I got the drop in replacement relay from Ebay as I've LEDs all round, BUT you may still need a small load resistor each side (say 300ohm to 1Kohm) to ensure the indicator repeater lights in the dash are fully off between flashes. These can be on slightly due to leakage through the relay etc depending on your setup. Still saves masses of power compared to filament bulbs. If you just load up the standard relay with resistors you use the same amount of power. As I put LEDs in I wanted LED power too!

I have just fitted some smaller flush mounted indicators to my DRZ400 (not LED ones) and the flash rate is too fast - I guess this is down to the lower wattage of the small bulbs. Just out of interest how is the resistor wired in - just cut a wire and solder the resistor in between?

as far as im aware you need to wire them in parallel with the bulb rather than series!
but dont hold me to it! haha
