Default Router required

Im getting VDSL (40MB connection) as soon as the company sorts it out. All i get with it though is a modem. So I will need a router to connect into it.

Id like to have quality of service so I can get some decent pings going on even when the internet is getting attacked by other users...

Also prefer it to be cheapish but if its not but good then ok im game.

Cheers Org

For those requirements I think you are looking at a Draytek Vigor of some flavour.

I think what you want is the kind of router sold to people with Cable Broadband.

Yea I think your right on the second bit. It is pretty much the same setup.

Expensive but looks like the daddy of Routers;

Yep, by the sounds its being set-up the way cable is (VSL- I think).

Netgear units are quite cheap and good quality.

We use the Vigor 2820 at work and it seems competent.

Not sure about QoS on Netgears.

+1

I maintain several VPN sites on a large diversity of connection and since I've switched to Draytek Vigor 2820, I forgot what it feels like rebooting a router. Very well made, plenty of features and easy to setup. I wouldn't consider any Netgears over these.

That Vigor 2820 does look very nice, but from what I can see its over twice the price of the Asus one I linked above, might be getting a little rich for me
