Default £160 to powdercoat a subframe. Reasonable?

As the title says, got a quote to powdercoat the subframe off my K3 and I was quoted £160. I am not sure if the lady I spoke to actually knew what i was talkign about but that does seem a bit steep. I was also quoted £40-£50 to do the wheels (thats each btw).

Any ideas if this is reasonable? I am in South London if that makes a difference.

I would do it myself if I were you.

I recently did a lot of cosmetic work on my bike and it include respraying parts. The actual process was long, but a lot more fun and a lot more cheaper than what you've been quoted.

Hmmmm....I would have thought about £200 for the sub-frame and both wheels. Is there anywhere else you can get a second quote from?

Have you looked at Triple-S price list?

You have your own powdercoating rig at home?

Wow

I get your point, and do most of my own spraying, but rattle-can spraying and powder-coating are 2 very different beasts.

I have no idea on how reasonable that price is, but I'd be interested in seeing the end results if you go with them, they are also my local place

Its really annoying actually as they are so close but I was genuinely thinking about £50. I am going to contact Triple S because I can get a courier to deliver it for £8 so if their prices are reasonable I will try them.

As I said in OP I am not sure whether the lady i spoke to knew that I meant the subframe and not the frame. I am whipping it off the bike tomorrow so will take it in to them and see what they say once they have seen it.

Any other suggestions on where to get it done are most welcome.

£160 is way too much, but I guess the lady didn't know what your were bringing in

No thats well over the top!
Ive been quoted £80 for a full frame doing in single gloss colour or £140 if I want it with metal flek.

The guy I got my quote from was LSN coatings in Castleford, he takes postals so ship it up here to him and save your self a fortune!
