Default LiFePo Battery Order - Deadline Day Approaching

The other thread got that cluttered with confusion and various assumptions that I wonder how many have unfortunatly stopped reading to see this:

Found answer myself, yes they are LiFePo (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate)... You DO NOT want to put Li-Ion in bike from what I read due to nasty bollox on fire type incidents occurring.

In one sentance, are they worth the punt or are they minature bombs just waiting to make astronaughts out of motorcyclists?
*by clearly I do I very much mean that I dont.

Ye Olde NiCd rechargeable... Nickel-Cadmium stuff in there.

Lithium Ion batteries are good but if you overcharge them or overheat due to amp draw you can cook them. They break down inside then and catch fire.

LiFePo... Lithium Iron Phosphate are chemically different in that they use a much 'arder material inside (the ironed phosphate bit) which goes "come on ye b*stard is that all ye'v got!?" when some nugget connects his reg-rec backwards or supplies the battery with 100 Volts AC when they wire the stator up wrong... or when it ends up cookin' 'ot from extended cranking or something.
Basically LiFePo are alright
So the batteries for sale are: More powerful, Smaller and Lighter than the previous best (YUASA Z12) but yet with this bulk order discount can be bought for the same amount.

Assuming Im not living in backwards land I would have thought that something better than the previous best, smaller than the previous best and lighter than the previous best would have had people flocking to buy it if you can buy it for the same price as the previous best.

Below is the initial post in the previous thread to explain what will be happening regarding this order. As it stands the DRz forum has produced 7 orders, my order on here makes it 8 which means we've already got the free shipping and we only need 2 more requests in order to achieve the 10 required to get the 20% off.

Over on the DRZ forum this has been a hot topic for a while and we've recently been made aware of a supplier in the US of some very reaonably priced units and a standard shipping rate of 40$.

I've been in contact with the seller directly and negotiated a bulk order discount.
If we can get:
5 units, they offer shipping for free,
10 units and he'll knock 20% off
25 units and he'll knock 25% off.

Sales Info can be found here:
http://www.motydesign.com

I go away in a week or two and get back on the 11th April, when I return I'll be chasing those on the list for payment and placing the order on the 13th. I want one of these regardless of the discount so an order WILL be taking place on that day the only variable is the amount of discount we get.

CONDITIONS:
If you're name is on the list but you fail to forward your money on the 2 days (11th-12th April) before I place the order your unit WILL NOT be ordered - no favours!

I will make the order based on assumed discount from all the units requested. eg if the lists reach 12 people then I'll assume we're getting the 20% discount and I'll only ask you for 80% of the RRP. I shall take the initial hit for any shipping/import tax so that all the units are safely in my possesion.

Once they're in my possesion I will get one of the units packed up for posting and get an accurate price for distribution to each individual (I wouldnt expect this to be much different to £5).
In additon if there has been any import tax or further charges then I will present a proof of my payment on here in a manor which satisfies all those awaiting thier unit.
I will then divide up any amount amoungst all those who ordered. (Eg sticking with 12 units ordered if import tax comes in at £60 then its a further £5 on each unit).

Combine this potential fee with postage charges and once again pay that into my paypal account, once your money has cleared I'll post the battery out the very next day.

So in conjunction with the drz forum I'd like to compile a list of all those who would wish to buy one of the batteries.

For the SV the minimum battery you can order is to surpass the spec of YUASA is the 8 Cell units, alternativly you can go even bigger than necessary and get the 12 cell. Similarly if you've got a smaller bike/scooter as well as the SV then a 4 Cell may be suitable.
The price for the 8 cell is $150 or £95 at current exchange rates.
The price for the 12 cell is $175 or £110 at current exchange rates.

So please add yourself to the list below in the usual quote and paste manor.

= THE LIST =

Owenski - 8 Cell Hard Case - RRP £95

How do these compare? Available in the UK for apparently similar money.

According to the respective websites the Shorai ones are slightly larger & heavier as well as being more expensive. Although they do have a higher amp hour rating which I think means how long they take to go flat if not charging.

With that in mind:

Shorai are the competitor to this battery, but I use competitor loosly. As MJC states they're physically bigger than the MOTY units and heavier when buying to achieve the same CCA.

Afternoon All,
I've been in contact with Brain and he's confirmed our order is awaiting payment and then dispatch.
Due to the timing of the order it seems there are a lot of people who "would" but cant order thanks to tight finances other commitments etc and they've now pulled out, I've therefore had a word with the fun adjuster and Im prepared to take a gamble.
!!!IM GOING TO ORDER 10 UNITS!!!
Those who have maintained thier interest and kept up with the PM's (names listed below) will be getting thier unit at the £75(+shipping) discounted rate. Anyone else who wishes to buy one of these batteries once I have them "stocked" can have them at £95 undiscounted rate but I will ship to you for free.
(DISCOUNTED NAMES: ezdrz, matt, owenski*2, MJC)

Just to confirm I've placed and paid for the order now. Those who got thier money to me before I placed the order and as such get the full 20% discount are:
ezdrz, matt, owenski*2, MJC, Darkshadow and Benboy80
My rocking maths skills suggest 3 further units will arrive which will go on sale on here
(Jake first refusal, but the remainder will be first come first serve).

WELL THAT DIDNT TAKE LONG!

They're here already, I'll be getting one boxed up and weighed to see what it'll cost but they're defo under 1kg so roughly £5.00 standard parcel or £7 Recorded but will confirm for certain later.
