Evening all,
Been browsing on here since I've owned an sv and I've decided to join and ask for some advice. I have a 02 model curvy which is standard except one thing, which is good ridge lines. After they were fitted I rode it and there were no problems, I didn't ride the bike for 2 weeks and when I took it Out again there was no front brake the lever drew all the way in without it stopping the bike. After telling the mechanic who fitted lines what had happened he bled them for me which sorted the problem. After leaving the bike for a week and a half the problem has come back no font brake again, could it just be that it needs bleeding again or is it something else? |

Yep the piston rubber on your master cylinder has likely split, service kits and new/second hand master cylinders should be roughly the same price on fleabay, I've just fixed same problem on my beasty and the m/c I bought was cheaper than a service kit but only by £4.

cheers for the advice guys got a service kit on order, rode it today it still brakes well but ive got more pull on the lever but the last time it failed the lever pulled all the way into the throttle and didnt have braking power the disc just slid through the calipers.
No harm in rebuilding the master cylinder though just to be safe. |

Have the calipers ever been serviced? I would do that as well. Great difference.

I tried a master cylinder repair kit and it made no difference hence changing the whole master cylinder which was actually cheaper
