Default One piece waterproofs, really a 100%?

Hi guys.

I was unlucky enough to be caught in 4 hours of heavy rain last sunday, and my 2 piece everyday waterproofs didn't stand a chance, so I was thinking a one piece may be the solution.

But are they really better?

Is there a massive difference between the brands? I would imagine it's just a large piece or plastic.

Cheers

I would have thought you have a far better chance with a 1-piece than 2, however, nothing is going to give 100% dryness, unless you wear a neoprene dive suit underneath your waterproofs

Thanks missy...
I don't think a neoprene wetsuit will help me though :/

Have you tried a one piece yourself?

Nope, I've always had two piece and the rain always gets in somewhere. Til last year when I got some Goretex textile trousers and they're really good. YC (my other half) has a Held rainsuit and he's pretty chuffed with it.

I used to wear walking waterproofs over my leathers (cheaper!) and they did the trick very well for one winter.

And I was talking about the drysuits but you'd probably end up looking like the Michelin Man

The thing I found with my 2 piece set is that the wind still manages to force a bit of water in between the trousers and the jacket :/ But I have been looking at goretex, i must admit

I've got a cheepie one piece Heingerice suit. Looks like a giant Babygrow.

Does it keep me dry - Yes Very.
Is it easy to get on - Unless your leathers are wet it's easy. If leathers are wet it can be a bit of a bugger. Plastic carrier bags over your boots help with the trouser legs.
Do you look cool wearing it - Nope.
Any other issues - Yes, you have absolutely no traction between bum and seat. I have some grippy mat stuff wrapped up in the suit that I put on the seat when I wear the waterproof suit.
Anything to remember - Put trousers outside boots. Put elasticated wrists outside gloves. Remember to to check grippy mat is still on seat and not stuck to bum when paying for petrol. If having a pee break allow a good few mins to get access as the internal bib bit comes up to your navel and unless you are massively well endowed the old-fella will not reach over the top so you have to slip the shoulders off.

I'm lucky. I don't need to slip the shoulders off.

I have tried wearing a neoprene dry suit under my textiles, it was raining that much, I even got wet... Nothing is 100%, but a 1 piece has definitely helped me stay drier.
