Default Clutch Lever Adjustment? (2005 pointy)

Hi. Having searched, there are existing threads on which adjustable levers to buy, and there is a "how to" on the front page to fit them.

My lever works ok, but is a bit of a stretch to get to, especially for 4th and 5 fingers, and more so now I have go to big and bulky winter gloves. I would like it to be an easier reach.

The lever is already tilted down at an angle, and I don't want to tilt it any more. Is the next step to go straight to buying an adjustable lever (I would get a standard size rather than a shorty), or is there something in between to try first that has worked for anyone else?

Getting the lever, espaically the end further away a couple of cm closer to the grip would make a lot of difference.

Incidentally, why is the clutch lever curved as much as it is? I have no trouble with the brake lever, and if it had a bit less of a curve I could probably manage better. The far end of mine is not flush with the grip.

Thanks as always.

Hi, the quickest way to answer your question is to recommend that you get the fully adjustable levers. What brand and price will vary depending on manufacturer, quality, location of seller etc but there are now many options for you to choose from. Why? Because even if you get a cheap pair and keep the standard ones, you can try them out to see if it makes any difference and if not you can always refit the standard ones.

I purchased a pair for £25 delivered off ebay and they work perfectly. The best compliment is to say that i don't adjust them anymore because they're right where i want them. However, to have that adjustability for the very scenario you mentioned is what will prove their worth.

nope it's not bent. these are the ones i got http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brake-Clut...item4153f9f13b and they fit perfect. i have had the sv650 ones and the gsxr600/750 k4 ones. both times they have been perfect.

Thanks. Those ones you linked to Bibio, they are just the levers and they use the existing "perch" correct?

Its just that the perch holds the mirror.

Just to follow up.

I got these, and they do make the reach more comfortable. They look pretty good and feel solid enough.

The guys in the garage were a bit skeptical about levers from the far east in that (a) they say they come loose after a while and (b) they have heard "stories" about them breaking under harsh, um, braking. Though this had not actually happened to anyone they knew....

I go them from the same place you guys recommended, so I guess if you have the same ones, and have "road tested" them, then they should be fine.

Thanks

Do these have a place for the clutch switch to go?
