Got a set of heated grips for it today. Where is the best place to pick up an ignition controlled live supply from? I don't really want to wire direct to battery.

I wouldn't run heated grips from another circuit as they are a fairly heavy draw and you may blow that circuit, run them via a rely ignition switched, that way you have a dedicated feed and it turns off with the ignition.
Cheers Mark.

Surprisingly, the current draw is very little, under 4 amps. On my 1200 I wired into the feed for the brake light switch & had no problems. Am not as familiar with the 650 as you guys so just wondering where the most convenient point to tap into would be. My first thoughts are that since the bike is always run with the headlamp on then just tap into that supply inside the lamp unit. The circuit should be up to the minimal extra load?

Can't you use one of the SV-Bits gizmo things, comes with a connecter to piggy back off the existing wiring?

heated grip generally have two settings at least, that being in parallel and in series, the low one is half the draw; I can believe it likely to be somewhere around that, however given you have no idea which circuit you'll be tapping into or what prolonged effect you'll get from the higher draw (so it may work and test OK, half an hour could see some nice smoke coming out), you may just make a lovely single bar electirc fire out of your wiring, there are a lot of things that can be done, but should be done is a different thing.
Do it properly, do it once. Cheers Mark.
