Default Pointy K7 lowside rebuild

Just over 2 months ago I low sided my bike at around 40/50mph, the left side hit a kerb and it finally bounced up into a fence. I've just tried to summarise the work done below to keep things as short as possible. All of the below work was carried out by Sami at ZR Motorcycles in Liverpool.

- Rear tyre was intact but the wheel had sustained a lot of damage, large chunks of it had cracked/snapped off. Replaced wheel and re-fitted my relatively new tyre.
- Swing arm needed replacing as it was bent.
- Chain had seized up and sprockets were damaged, all needed replacing.
- Snow plow was damaged so replaced with an evotech tail tidy.
- Front fairing, LHS lower fairing and LHS rear fairing were all cracked and damaged – opted to make the bike naked to save repair costs so only had to replace the LHS rear fairing.
- Fitted twin headlights and an aftermarket (Trailtech Vapor) speedo/clock.
- Left hand clip-on had snapped off and bar end was heavily damaged – replaced with new clip on/grips and remounted the intact and undamaged controls. Also fitted shorty levers.
- LHS foot peg and gear lever were snapped and gear linkage bent, replaced each.
- Exhaust was also blowing which has now been sorted.
- There was a “notching”/”tight” feeling in the initial movement of the steering so sorted the steering bearings and now it’s perfect.

Can’t thank Sami enough for this, due to all of the little niggling issues the work took around 20 hours, not including time to give it a minor service. I was blown away at how little it cost for such a high level of work. He really did go the extra mile. I urge anyone in the Liverpool area to take their bike to Sami if it ever needs ANY work doing. Obviously I need to attach a picture of the finished piece, I’m really please with how it looks, think I just need to get myself a belly ban and a fender extender to finish it off now, bar end mirrors are already on their way.

EDIT - As per the below I thought I should probably add the cost in! In total, including labour and part costs, it cost £1100. Though I sourced most of the parts myself except for the chain/sprocket set.

Default Re: Pointy K7 lowside rebuild

Nie looking bike and appears to be as good as new.

But surely the cost of having the work done would justify such a statement, that " I was blown away at how little it cost for such a high level of work".

Any recommendation of a garage or specialist repairer must have some basis in cost as it might have been cheaper to get a better bike. It would not be a suprise if your labour costs were double the cost of parts - even if you did get a discount.

The work does look great, but a cost puts it into much better context in my view.
