Default Bar risers + rearsets? K9.

Right, I'm after some opinions/advice here, since I put a ZX10 shock in the rear of my K9 sport, the clip ons have started to kill me, they were bearable before but now I'm losing the feeling in my right hand after about ten miles (don't really grip the bars, so I don't think it's that), so time for some bar raisers. Looked at the Danmoto ones but didn't feel like cutting them down and countersinking them, so I'm thinking the Gilles variobars (http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race....-p-404398.html) - anyone use them, or have different ones to recommend? I've got Hel braided lines in the front (the two race lines) so hopefully they should be okay - but will the throttle cables and clutch cable be okay?

Secondly I feel like moving my foot pegs, as they've never felt in the right place, I've found the most comfortable position is to rest my shins on the pegs so I think they need to move back a bit, so I don't think upside down rise plates will help (please correct me if I'm wrong!), again I'm thinking Gilles rearsets (http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race....5.html#adjustX) so I want to know if anyone has them, or different!

So if anyone has an opinion let me here it!

I had helibars on my SV, they use all of the stock lines and are not noticeable when you look at the bike. Stopped my back aching, but my wrists didn't hurt so can't comment on that aspect. Ill let you find them, as I would be plugging if I gave you a link You need to be careful with Variobars as if you go too high, you will need longer cables/ hit the fairing.

I have the Gilles rearsets fitted because I was turning the pags to dust on my thou. I'm only a little guy at 5'5" and have them set at the lowest, most forward position which is miles better than stock. I think they are very comfy, but my legs can seize up after a long stint in the saddle without putting my foot down. Here are a couple of pics to show the riding position.

For relatively inexpensive raised clipons you could try
Accossato 4cm raised clipons.

Worked for me.

With the vario bars I wonder if I just moved them down the forks a little would that cause any issues, I've got about an inch or so of clearance, although then they would virtually be the same as the Helibars, hmm decisions... With the Accossata bars did you need to change anything other than the wiring position and brake lines, throttle cables okay? Thanks for the rearset pics, think I'll see how the bars affect my position then see if I still need them, but I can see they make a big difference! Thanks for the info guys!

i have 4'' rise vario bars on my SV. the throttle cable needs to be longer, clutch cable works, you need to extend the switchgear wiring, brake cables need to be longer.

taking all the above into account plus the price of the variobars and it works out rather expensive.

better getting a comfort kit for £280 delivered to your door. yes Matt is a nobend but his products are very very good quality.

That is clearly the most sensible and economical idea, but I just couldn't do it to my poor SV! Hopefully I wouldn't need new brake lines as the Hel ones were pretty long in the first place and extending the switchgear is doable, so throttle cables are still money but not so bad! They make a big difference for you?

if i were to do it again i would get a comfort kit. i only paid £80 for the gilleis so no great hardship there, Daz on the forum sold me extended cables he had lying around and i make the switchgear extenders anyway so they were free so to speak.

what puts you off the bar kit?

Just don't like the look of it, simple as. I know it's the best option, but just think it looks ugly unfortunately, not that I don't appreciate your help!

well it's your choice.

i'm actually contemplating getting a bar kit as i cant seem to get the vario bars in the right place. if i were to buy a bike on looks the SV would be pretty much bottom of the list TBH.

the bar kit actually turns the SV into a much much better bike to ride.
