Default LED Headlights

Hi Guys,

I have 2 X 60W nightbreakers in my SV650 '99.

While they are bright, I would still feel comfortable at night time with something brighter.

I doubt that 100W bulbs are going to be any good as they are likely to melt everything.

So for me, next step is to look into LED H4s.

What's the best way to do this?

I have seen LED H4s online that can just be fitted straight in.

and others include a large kit with a ballast, much more expensive.

What's the best way to go and why?

Thank You.

I doubt any LED bulbs will be brighter than the nightbreakers, I would check if they're even legal.

First thing I would do if I was worried by the headlight output would be to run the headlights from relays.

DD's right & there's been a lot of threads lately about this subject.

Use the search function

Fit relays and upgraded wiring direct to the battery (fused), gives around 3V (20%) improvement at the bulb connector over good stock wiring and makes a big difference to the light output.

To make the led to focus it needs a reflector designed to work with the flat wide led emmiter.
So you need a complete lamp for it to work properly.

This is also why a hid bulb has bleed over when you fit then in units ment for incandescent bulbs.

This is nothing like the thin element inside and normal bulb.

Yamaha tracer has led lights.
Search for a set and mod then for the Sv.

I had a 2600 lumens led bulb(?) in my zrx headlight, the good bits, instant warm up, very bright bad, not good for sitting behind cars or even vans as the flare is that great you can see the rearview mirrors being moved

I they were fitted with a proper reflector then that would help, no good in a h4 incandesent reflector though
