Is it starting on both cylinders when you warm the plug or just the one? i.e.: does it run on the rear cylinder at all?

Is there a spark at the rear plug? Are you sure it is oiling up or could it be fouling with unburnt fuel?If its oil it must be coming down the valve guides or via worn piston rings/bores.Fuel fouling could be flooding carb or no spark.I assume you already checked all this before taking the lid off.

Have you checked the coils?

+1 If plug is OK, I would also suspect coil or a leak between coil and plugs.
