Question HEL rear brake line - advice needed if possible

Hi forum, hoping someone can shed some light on this for me please.

Currently own a 2004 SV650S K4, looking to redo my rear brakes. Already rebuilt both the rear caliper, and master cylinder. Was looking to replace the rubber brake line with a HEL rear line. Ordered the kit, part number HBR7693, but when trying to install it, seems the line is about 2 inches too long. Contacted both the company I purchased it from, and HEL themselves, and they say this is the correct line. Rubber line was roughly 14in tip to tip, with HEL being roughly 16in tip to tip. No matter which way I route it, I can't seem to do it without a severe bend or 2, which just doesn't seem right tbh.

I can see an aftermarket line being slightly different in length, but not 2 inches.

Did I order the wrong one? If so, which one should I have ordered?

Any help or advice the forum can offer would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

That part number is for a naked SV650, which has a slightly longer swingarm than the SV650S.
That might be why it is slightly too long.

According to HEL, the HBR7646 listed for my bike there comes in at around 18inches, which is even longer than the one I purchased, which would mean it being nearly 4 inches longer than the one I took off.

I initially thought that there could be a difference between the naked and faired, but I can't imagine it being 2 inches longer. Wheelbase for 2004, that I can find, is naked = 1440mm or 56.7in and faired = 1430mm or 56.3in. 10mm either way shouldn't make any real world difference tbh.

It's just annoying there isn't anywhere local that sells these lines so I can go and measure up properly.

Yeh that doesn't make sense.

Maybe just make a custom one on the HEL website

Think that's what I'm going to have to do, unless someone can come up another suggestion. Thanks for posting the link/PDF though, makes it a little easier to see all the part numbers and bikes in one place.

Knowing my luck I'd get the angles wrong on the line and it'll be useless lol.

Sounds like a custom line really is the way to go.

Let us know how you get on. I had exactly this issue some years back with a different company. They swore blind the lines they sent were correct despite being several inches to long. I sent them the length of the lines I needed in the end.
