Default Flat tyre

Hi all, i jumper on my bike yesterday evening after a rainy day to discover that i had a flat tyre... wasn't very impressed - making a 1h 20m commute home in full leathers is not much fun.

Can anyone give me some advise how to get the tyre repaired/replaced. i need it back on the road ASAP. My office is in Chelsea.

Would i be best to get AA cover and wait 24 hours to get them out? or find a local tyre company to come out and replace it - if so any suggestions?

Many thanks

If you have a bike/car shop near you? Get a can of tyre weld, this will enable you to ride the bike to a bike tyre shop.

A lot of tyre companies will come out to do replacement, and depending on the damage it might be repairable. So you could get a kit from a bike shop.
I've had two now.. one was a torn valve after stupidly putting tyre flies on.. cost about 10 quid once I got the wheel to a shop.. and the other is a screw hole, rather large so the tyres going to have to be replaced.
What happened with yours?

Have you tried putting any air in it? Sure no ones just let it down?

just checked the type and can't find a nail in it so i think i'll try and find a pump and pump it up. I check if it goes down during the day - else i'll give the cavalry a call - thanks all.

If it goes down during the day then its liable to be a small hole, could probably get away with using Ultraseal, or it could be a bad valve, just take it to a fitters and they should be able to replace it.

Check the tyre valve!

Some little scrot let my front tire down by turning the valve. Being a bit of the dilbert that day I pumped the tyre up and it went down in two mins, took a while for the penny to drop...

I got a valve spanner tightened the valve back in and hey presto the air styed in the tyre!!!!

Ultraseal is pretty good if you can spin the wheel for a while to coat the inside of the tyre properly as it does it's job. Allegedly tyre shops do not get fazed by the stuff. Unlike Tyre Weld or other foam based goo which makes a hell of a mess when the tyre is removed.

None of this is personal experience - just pub table gossip.
