I had an email today from someone who claims to be an accident investigator.
He wrote: "the bike, at a set of lights, lost power, then surged, lost it again then surged sending my client through a wall and into a car. Do you know if there have been other similar faults with this bike, other incidents or if there was a recall because of the fault." Now take in that it's an RS125, isn't this just a stall or a kangaroo start? I am not aware of any faults with this bike to do this sort of thing unless it was a clutch issue maybe? Your thoughts, if any? |

Sounds incredibly similar to what happened to me riding the latest CBR back from Custom House to Kent.
Certainly it was jumpy as it had stood for some time and the carbs need cleaning. Also it was overheating a bit which led to problems that when I pulled the clutch cable in it didnt disengage and the only way I stopped going into the taxi in front was to stall it ![]() Not the most pleasant of journeys it has to be said. Only time Ive had jumpy fits on the SV was in freezing fog with carb icing. |

Carb icing - you don't want that in a piston twin.

What he said^^
2 stroke powerband 'n' all. Lots of slippage required. |

Another possiblity, 2 strokes tend to get bogged down in their oil at low speed and standing and need a good rev to clear the system. It causes a lot of exhaust smoke.
If it was bogged down and he gave a bit too much power when pulling off to compensate then its possible for it to surge. But IMO thats unlikely and he probably gave it too much stick, lifted the front wheel, Sh*t himself, cut power and then it all went t!ts up. ![]() ![]() |

I had a bit of a stutter at 6 grand on my RS125, but I wouldn't have thought this would have caused a problem whilst pulling away.
I concur with you guys. Was probably trying to show off and it didn't go to plan. |

cheers people.
It certainly sounded like any of the above rather than some kind of bike fault. |

but with the torque we have that would be quite an off putting experience...surely on the RS125 doesn't have enough grunt to be as bad?
