OK - this may seem a bit of a newbie question to ask but I'm just about to put my 2001 K1 in for it's 7500 mile service. Can anyone give me any tips on what to look out for/ check that the garage does?
I notice that there are some parts that need to be replaced after 4 years even if unworn. Again tips/adivce would be great. Also, be interested in getting an idea of what I should be paying (I don't intend using a Suzuki dealer). Finally - My bike sometimes jumps from second to neutral or from third to second and sometimes fourth to third under hard acceleration - any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance Jamie |

Download the preiodic maintenance manual from the link above, it will tell you what the dealer should be doing. I couldn't give you an idea of price though. As for the bike jumping out of gear, either something's wrong or perhaps more likely, the bike isn't going into gear properly. Try adjusting the gear lever down a little, so it's easier to change up. |

Is the inner part of the clutch cable too tight? Or maybe you need a new cable. If the clutch isn't engaging, disengaging fully you can have problems like this.
I had a very similar problem years ago on a small bike. |

ref the gearchange, a common thing is for the pedal pivot to get stiff, they need to be kept lubed to stop water getting in causing corrosion.
Use some penetrating type oil, something like WD40 spray will be a good start and work it in. Also check the 2 ball joints on the connecting link, waterproof grease is the ideal but a drop or 2 of engine oil will be better than nothing. It may also be worth taking the gearbox sprocket cover off (4 recessed bolts) and clean out any gunge which has collected in there from the chain. Don't overtighten the bolts, the cover is plastic. |
