I thought I'd give the story of my fitting a dynojet kit to my Gixxer 6 to let you know how difficult it was to fit and whether there were any benefits.
My GSXR 600 SRAD suffered from a very lean 4.5-5.5k on the rev range (as they all do) which was made worse by having an aftermarket can on. This coincidentally, happens to be the revs I hit when I’m filtering in 2nd gear. So the decision was made to purchase a kit. As luck would have it I got a complete one for £25 off eBay! ![]() Even though the kit came with instructions I decided to use my initiative and go about downloading the latest instructions from the Dynojet website for the kit. All checked out, the leaflet number was the same and all of the parts listed were the same. I did notice some differences though. The older leaflet said to leave the original pilot jets fitted and that the ones supplied were for race use only. This wasn’t even mentioned on the newer copy even though the part numbers were identical. ![]() In my wisdom ![]() So yesterday the decision was made to go with the original instructions to see if there was an improvement. So last night I was sat at the kitchen table again with my carbs sat in front of me with a screw driver following the old instructions. I fitted the back on and “hey presto” everything started and it all sounded great. I took it for a test ride to see how it felt and it was great. Tons better than the original setup. Admittedly it isn’t perfect as I don’t have the dyno or the skills to get it bang on, but it felt good. So my initial impressions. That 4.5-5.5k lean spot has gone completely and it feels lovely and smooth right though the rev range. It still has it peaky roar at around 10k and the power jump there is still as mental as it always was. ![]() So in reflection, dynojets are a great improvement BUT always follow the instructions supplied…. ![]() |
