Default My First SV Drop! Nothing Serious.

Well I've managed to keep the SV upright for two years (almost to the day) but this morning I managed to lay it down for the first time.

I was attempting to start a u-turn in my street which is an old cobbled lane. Added to that the roads were wet from last night's downpour and the gutters were muddy.

Just as I start the front wheel slides away from me and the bike starts to topple to the right. As I'm pretty tall I can normally keep it upright just by putting my feet flat to the floor, but this time that wasn't going to happen. All I managed to do was slow it down so that it stopped with the peg on the ground, but with me holding it up sufficiently so that it's still not fully down.

After about a minute of doing this (which is pretty hard work as I'm still astride the bike) I decided the only way I'd get it back up was by letting it go fully to the ground, and 'dismount' so I can propperly lift it up.

So that's what I do... and the damage......

SV - 2mm scratch on bar end.
Me - Pride and sore muscles from trying to hold it up.

Other than that nothing!!! How lucky am I?

Aaaah, you scratched your poor wee beastie!

Lucky that you're tall enough to be able to lay it down gently. I don't think that technique would have worked for me somehow

Happy hear you you provided a soft landing surface for the bike . Agree with most of what jonboy said apart from the 'minor drop' bit . That is even a drop
.

Glad it was just a minor.

I've had my first two in less than a week, such an ****, i wasnt so lucky, i have cracked airing in 2 placed, scuffs all round except the tank, which now has a dent due to my dads dodgy arrangement on the garage girders, scuffed can, scuffed back fairing. Oh and a f*cking bent front wheel

I'm pretty sure the definition of an "off" specifies it should take, at most, 30 seconds Glad to hear the bike's OK though, I'll try and learn from your example. (I did more damage in my u-turn drop than I did chucking it down the track at 70)
