Default Leaded fuel!!!!!!!

Hi All.
I'm off on a little jaunt down to Morocco later this month. Petrol stations I've been led to believe can get a bit scarce when you get out of the way. Can someone tell me what would happen if I put leaded into my K3. I've got a feeling the engine will be fine, but what about the catalitic converter? does it have one?

any info greatly recieved.

Rich

SVs do not have a CAT fitted yet.

I am sure you will find the correct fuel, it may have a lower RON than the UK but the SV will be just fine.

Chewy22 i think went that way on his 1000.

Is that correct? My thou has cats in the inlet end of the cans (well, it did until I replaced them!) and you can see the O2 sensor where the exhaust passes under the engine. I presumed the 650 would be the same?

AFAIK the SV650 does not have an O2 sensor on the exhaust. Even the new ones. It may be comming though for the engine to pass the new tests comming.

Its prob because it can pass emissions tests without it while the 1000 needs the extra controls to get it through.

Plus you want to avoid leaded full like the plague. If you had any idea how bad it is, you'd never use it.

Did you know 90% of the lead in the atmosphere is from humans, so in 70 years we've put more into the atmosphere than 6 billion years of the earth existing?

And that when we inhale it, it doesn't leave again, it collects inside our bones, so we never get rid of it?

Oh, and did I mention t's gong to take literally millions of years for it to come out of the atmospere again?

That's why leaded full is supposedly illegal nowadays anyway.

By the sound of things people down tehre are burnign leaded fuel anyway, he's not going to add much. Probably safer to use it than unleaded as it could be some godawfully low octane number.

The O2 (lambda) sensor on the 1000 is for the benefit of the FI as far as I know. I was a bit surprised the 650 didn't have one, a bit crap really.

Leaded petrol is indeed banned because of lead emissions, most of it is probably in the soil now, or more likely in the sea.
