Interesting article on Mark Dobeck and how he started DynoJet. Plus the real reason why DynoJet figures do not represent the actual horsepower from your bike straight from the horse's mouth!

Why wouldn't it be? Would they suddenly change every dyno they have ever produced to read differently? Or would they risk having different dynos giving different readings depending on the software installed? Oh wait, erm, oops!

![]() What other bike dynos are there or is it just Dynojet everywhere? (Not being an expert on these matters)

Dyna Pro kit is awesome *and* made in the UK.
They've started from first principles and sold something like 28 dynos last year. See www.dynapro.co.uk for details. Highly recommended! |

I really don't see the major problem, the point of any dyno is to help show improvements made through fueling and other alteations, the actual number doesn't matter much as long as it's consistent.
I mean short of actualy taking 72 "control horses" to every minitwins meet and having somecompetition between them and the SVs in question, you're always going to have to pick a scale of measurement. Dynojet have become the idustry standard, so in essance they have made a scale themselves and by and large everyone's happy with it. \they've done what thy set out to do, allow people to measure alterations and get a real diference shown on a screen or printout that they can say "this makes it run 5% better" :P

But the point of the article is that the DynoJet system, whilst the 'industry' standard (because they were the only one in the industry for so long) is flawed.
They have everyone believing that you cannot get repeatability through different dyno runs yet we know, and have evidence, that is not the case on dynos from other manufacturers. They have everyone believing that their figures are correct and valid yet if you take some of their readings and work out the engine efficiency you end up with figures higher than F1 cars which is just rubbish. They are a very useful tool but, in my opinion, there are much better products out there. This article is useful in refuting some of the propaganda and marketing bull put about by DynoJet about how great their own products are. You can get useful data from a DynoJet Dyno and I have every respect and admiration for Mark Dobeck for bringing them out but when he says their numbers are based on flawed assumptions people had better start believing it! |

6mil cash for it all - seems a cheap deal for the investors. I hope he kept hold of some of it for when they sold it later on for 22.

Nightmare - not been able to read all the article yet but never realised just how much fiddle factor there really was.
