Default K4 gsxr forks - which wheel?

Got myself a set of forks, yolks calipers etc For some reason I thought I could use my k3 SV650 front wheel, but the gsxr spindle is too large. Looks as if a bearing swap is not possible, so what wheels would do the job???? Cheers MUnch

SV 1000
Any 'k' series GSXR should do it.

For non radial brakes you will need 320mm discs, and 310mm I think for readial type

Or 300mm. Though you can run 320mm if you space out the calipers, and you really want to brake your wrists while breaking

Wheels - As previously mentioned all K-series wheels up to K5 I'm sure about and also the SV1000 wheels.

Discs - You can use 300 , 310 or 320. I'm also pretty sure all the Radial discs are 300. In any case , just find out what size discs a particualr radial equiped GSXR uses and shim space out if/as necessary.

Assumming the radials all use 300mm discs then with the 320mm discs you'll need a 10mm spacer with 70mm long bolts.
For the 310mm discs(SV1000) you'll need a 5mm spacer and 65mm long bolts.

I may have some nice black anodised 100mm spacers with 70mm long stainless steel bolts(tapered heads) available depending on what I decide to do.
You can still use the 70mm bolts with 5mm spacers(for 310mm discs). All you'll need to do is use a 5mm washer on the bolt.

Cheers
Ben

Just bought a dinged SRAD wheel from Tre today (top lad) , and span it up in the forks tonight. Looks very promising (unlike the first one I just bought off ebay - nowhere near right - hub too narrow, 25mm spindle, but has speedo drive??? fair sale but lesson = ask more questions).

I will need a trip to motoliner to true the wheel up and a trim of the spindle / nut as per Kieran's project (cheers for the posts mate, totally invaluable!). Dont think my GSXR front end is going to be as tidy as Kieran's effort, but then neither is the rest of the bike!!!

I have a set of 300 mm and 320mm discs, so might need some spacers depending on how successful the SV master cylinder is, but we shall see!

Should I bother with getting the wheel powdercoated, or should I just spray paint it for now (I need silver, its white) - the rest of the bodywork is still battered until I can get her MOt'd and back on the road etc (front end swap due to crash)....

Photos when it starts to look half decent....

I've just looked again and it appears we don't exactly know what frontend you have got going on. I know you have a K3 but as far as I can see that's all we have and so my earlier reply might just be a lot of poop

It may be a good idea to put down what you have going on.

Cheers
Ben

Ahhh good point - whats in my head vs whats actually going on vs what I've posted

OK heres whats I've get to work with / been sold:

K4 GSXR600 forks and yolks
K3 GSXR1000 Radial Calipers (standard hoses, no pads)
K4 GSXR600 radial Calipers (with standard hose, used pads and set of new EBC pads)
K4 GSXR600 spindle
300mm GSXR discs
320mm GSXR1000 discs
GSXR750 SRAD front wheel - bit dinged but repairable
Suzuki 3 spoke front wheel (and tire), 25mm bearings and discs.

I just quickly put the SRAD front wheel and discs on when I got back from work/pub tonight and it looks good bar the K4 spindle/nut is a tad too wide as per Keiran's posts. Will measure up properly tommoz....

Clipons?

If I were you I'll go with the 300mm discs. The other wheel you have got is that the one with the 'prop' spoke design?

The wheel spacer/nut can be spaced out without cutting as per Kierans so let us know if you want to do it that way.

Cheers
Ben

ps: Let us know(via pm) which bits you decide not to use and maybe we could work something out. I know someone that might bw interested in some of your left over bits.

Cheers Ben, I'm interested in a spacer to save messing about - PM me if youve got anything handy...

re Clipons - again K4 GSXR6, but all switchgear and levers etc are SVS. Once I get her back on the road and all proves straight and reliable I'll be going for renthals (planning to drill top yolk - I have some honda XL risers which should do the job).
