probably a daft question......
been thinking about my restricted licence...i still have 13 months to go ![]() but what happens then???? i have the codes: A =<25KW, 01 on the back of my licence.... will i have to send off for an unrestricted one? or do i not bother? or do they automatically send me a new one? (yes, i know its the dvla, but one can dream) just wondering... |

don't think you need to do anything. it should automatically be updated on the dvla computer and they'll update your licence when you send it in for a change of address etc. you can send it in to get it changed but i think they may charge you for it
of course i could be talking a complete load of rubbish ![]() ![]()

I'm sure mine had dates next to the restriction to show when it expired, I didn't send it off when it did.
But I have changed address since so I can't check the card. |

I asked DVLA the same question last year when my 2 years was up. They said...
"Once the two year qualifying period has elapsed, you may ride any size motorcycle. It is not necessary to have the restriction 25kw, removed from your licence. However, if you wish to have the restriction removed then please complete a D1 application form, (available from the Post Office), applying for an exchange licence and return it to the Agency with your licence and the fee of £19.00. Please include a covering letter stating that you wish to have the two year motorcycle restriction removed." So mine is the same card and still has the restriction written on it, but I've had no hassles from insurance or the police when they've checked it so the database itself is up to date even if the card isn't. |
