Default Gears sticking after hard braking

I was testing out my braking limits on the front and back the other day, just to get a feel for how the the brakes respond on their own but I had a problem with getting stuck in gear after braking hard on the front.

After coming to a stop in 2nd or 3rd gear, it didn't want to shift down unless I let the clutch out slightly whist pressing down on the gear lever. Is there a problem with all the fluids being flung forward under hard braking or something?
Don't know if this is something to be concerned about or not?

Oh yeah, it's on a 2001 curvy S

I doubt it's to do with your braking... More that bikes don't like shifting gear while stationary- even being slightly out of adjustment can cause problems.

Yeah, it may need adjusting a little. Although I tried the hard braking a few times and the gear problem was consistent. Only very rarely have this problem under normal circumstances. I was woried incase the gearbox was losing lubrication or something. Wouldn't want to damage my pride and joy

Does it happen if you're still moving?

Dunno

I'll try it again tomorrow and see what happens if I let it roll a bit.

Also were you trying to change gear imediatly after braking before already applying some power or had you already applied power then decided to change gear.

I was effectively doing an emergency stop but only using the front brake. So after I had stopped I was trying to put it down into 1st to be ready to pull away again. I have a totally standard fork set up and there so the bike dives a bit then bounces back up once stopped

Once I had released the clutch a bit it was fine till the next time I tried the hard braking then the same thing happened again. I haven't had the problem from braking hard whilst riding without actually stopping but i'll to some more testing today and see if I can narrow it down.

Even if you are doing an emergency stop, you would pull in the clutch at the last moment though

Not unusual as you are using engine braking as well as wheel braking and letting the clutch out a tad to drop down the box is normal practice. The gear seems to mesh/lock in harder while under braking. I have had this on my SV,Kawasaki and Triumph so it appears a common trait on any if not most bikes and not worth worrying about

I have found it easier to be in the wrong gear on my SV because it pulls away from any gear due to the torque. When I have had other bikes, you just can't get that kind of thing wrong. Therefore I have found myself in a similar situation, if it wasn't for the neutral light I wouldn't know where I was sometimes when I have stopped at the lights.
And especially if I have braked hard, the gears do require a blip on the throttle and a bit of clutch to get them moving. I would suspect it is a normal feature of bike gears.
