Default Rear brake pins removal on 2002 curvey

Ok, I have tried everything I can think of and they appear siezed in. Any suggestions on how to remove them would be appreciated! I have remebered to remove the 'R' clips! I have tried everything and they wont budge, they have been soaked in WD40 overnight and still no joy! I don't really want to take it to a dealer but it looking that way!

I did do a seach but couldn't find a post relating to this!

If the caliper has been drilled from the other side you can tap them out, if not you may find soaking the whole caliper in a bucket of hot tap water for 15-20 minutes helps out. The key really is routine maintainance on these calipers as they do stick solid. If all else fails you can split the caliper in 1/2 by undoing the bolts holding it together and then you have better access to remove the pins as they'll be sticking up out of just 1 part of it.

Was trying to avoid removing the caliper as noly just put new fluid and braided lines on 2 weeks ago but might have too! Didn't think at the time that the pins might be siezed just noticed that pads were near the end of there life!

Bike was off the road 2 and a half years before I got it so am having a few problems with things siezing!

They havn't been drilled from the other site, first thing I looked for! Why don't suzuki just make a hole there so that you can tap them out! Doh

Ta - will keep persisting and will split caliper as a last resort but looks like that may be my only sollution. I had not thought of that! ta

Get some stainless steel pins from ebay and some copper grease, might help the seizing problems next time

Try the bucket of water, it's not invasive and helps you clean up the pistons too. Bottom line is that the caliper may well be coming off though

I have also seen people use a small butane mini blow torch thingie to heat the caliper around the pin. at this point you'll probably want to strip the caliper anyway due to possibility of dammaging seals and boiling fluid.

If I split the caliper in two are there any seals I need to replace, or can I just bolt it back together after freeing the pins?

There is a single (I believe) rubber seal between the 2 halves, if it's in good nick, just re-use it with some universal ruber grease, if it's distorted best bin and replace.

I re used mine when i did it, i also cleaned and put a small smear of grease on the flat surfaces to stop them sticking next time

I also ditched the bolts for stainless ones....and the bleed nipples.....and the mounting bolts...and the pins...couldn't find stainless "R" clips

Copper grease all the bolts before putting them back in, this will make life easyer next time....because theres always a next time with the SV
