i got an inforad,
now trying to fit it to the bike, i could wire it directly to the battery, but it would drain it as there is no on/off switch. so how would i go about wiring it somewhere else as so when the ignition is switched off, the inforad has no power running to it ? it draws 5A (whatever that means) please keep it basic, i have no clue about electrics, all i know is, i have a posive wire and a negative wire to attach somewhere. this isnt an SV by the way, its a CBR, but i imagine the wiring should be pretty similar ![]() |

5A is 5 amps which means you'll need to allow for this with the fusing if you splice it into a current electrical system.

If you look on the underside of the fuse box, there is a space for extras to be wired in. The orange wire has a bridge into an empty connector, this orange wire is only live when the ignition is on. You can solder the positive to this wire and not risk draining the battery.
Hope this helps Ben |

urr, thanks so far,
i kinda get what your saying, ill get the manuals out. ive got a mulit meter, but havent a clue how to use it. im dying to learn. right, the device im trying to fit, is an inforad speed camera detector, im confident i can wire the rest of it up to the antenna ect ect, but im not so confident with the giving it some power part. the only advice the manual gives as regards to fitting is INFORAD requires an electrical power source of 5 to 24V (500mW) provided through the cable (5). fit the red cable to the positive and the black cable to negative or earth. the bike is a honda CBR, i have the wiring diagram infront of me, but dont really understand it. the current bulbs i have in my bike, are a pair of 12V 55W H7 headlight bulbs, one is dipped beam, and the other is full beam . what now ? ![]() |

most things have just two wires ,one live feed and one earth .easy .just find out what wire to tap into for a liv feed (only when the key is in is best ,not live constantly ,cos it may drain ur batt) and connect the other one (usually black)to an earth or run it straight back to earth terminal on the batt ,tidy up wiring ,jobs a good'un

yeah, i think so ,but if it was me ,i would run the earth wire back to the battery ,ul get a much btr connection that way (and itl have its own earth wire)most elec faults with accesories are the earth ,so do urself a favour and run it back
